on saturday morning we set out for a cultural excursion organised by the univeristy, international office.

there were 42 of us exchange students and we went to see rock paintings (around 200 years old) . afterwards we had lunch by a small lake, and went on to a small village called Kanye, where the village elders showed us around.

Later in the afternoon we walked down a river called gorge and just sat by it. It feels quite peaceful all around here. partly because people here are never in a hurry. it calms me down quite a bit as well. i hope i can bring something of that with me when i come back to finland.

In the evening we arrived in to a small village called Mmankgodi in where the tribe chief welcomed us with a dance. Before that all the women had to get on thier knees. all the men joined in the dance. well, what they basically did was they stood quite close to the chief as he was dancing..

Later in the evening we had a delicious meal outside and then everyone gathered around the fire. ´the sky was absolutely amazing and i went to sleep around 10pm, loser i know. We slept in tents and huts and it was quite warm, except that one of the german girls stole my blanket while i was a sleep!! ha.

in the morning we drove to Mokolodi nature reserve game park, in where we had a safari in big jeeps. We saw elephants, leopards, those bigs like bumba in lion king, dears (or some relatives). Unfortunately giraffs were apparently in church since it was sunday or some other occupied 'cause we didnt see them.

It was a good weekend. Now im in my own room writing this because after thrd time to the mal i finally found a right adapter for my computer. yeiii!! im happy. and tired.  ill write some more when something happens. Oh yes, my marimba-rehersals starts tomorrow, that shoud be exciting.
